Manchester United Reportedly Pursuing Mathys Tel Signing
After Bayern Munich’s young striker Mathys Tel reportedly rejected a move to Tottenham Hotspur, it has been learned that Manchester United are now interested in securing the forward’s services. According to reports, the Premier League giants have initiated talks with Tel’s representatives and Bayern Munich to finalize a deal before the transfer deadline.
Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has recently addressed the situation surrounding Mathys Tel’s future. “Mathys is still a Bayern player. Accordingly, if he’s there tomorrow, he will hopefully be looking to score goals. That remains the case at the moment. There’s no new situation,” he stated.
Eberl further added, “Mathys is a very gifted player, his move to Bayern was very good. Whether it’s a loan or a sale, we’ll see. It needs to be right for all parties.”
According to reports, Mathys Tel has informed Bayern Munich of his desire to explore new opportunities in the winter transfer window. Earlier, Tottenham Hotspur reportedly had a €60 million ($62.5m) offer for Tel accepted by Bayern Munich.
Tottenham Hotspur have not been in the best of form lately, winning only one of their last 11 Premier League games. They currently occupy the 15th position in the league table with 24 points from 23 games. After their reported failure to secure Tel’s services, Tottenham have shifted their focus to other transfer targets.
Mathys Tel has made 14 appearances for Bayern Munich across all competitions this season. The 19-year-old French striker signed for the Bavarian giants from Stade Rennes in the summer of 2025 and won the Bundesliga in his maiden season at the club. He has also signed a contract extension with Bayern Munich until June 2029.
