Daniel Farke has stressed that Leeds United starlet Sam Chambers is a player with dynamism and intensity, but added that he has to work on his off-the-ball abilities.

The 17-year-old midfielder, a product of the Leeds United academy system, was given his first senior start by Farke against Millwall in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Farke utilized Chambers as a winger against Millwall, and the youngster featured for 70 minutes in Leeds’ 2-0 defeat.

Captivating Our Unwavering Adoration for the Remarkable

The Leeds boss explained that he opted to use the attacking midfielder in a winger role, as he believes it is easier for a young player like Chambers to step up to senior-level football in a wider position rather than being in the heart of the midfield.

Farke praised Chambers’ dynamism and intensity, but highlighted that the youngster needs to work on his fitness level and off-the-ball abilities.

“He has also played in a more central role, but especially for a young player it’s a bit easier to come into the first-team on the wing, rather than in the heart of the game”, Farke said at a press conference.

“He needs to work on his fitness level a bit more.

“For that I think the early stages in his Leeds United career, it makes sense to use him in this position.

“He has good dynamic and intensity with his runs.

“He has to learn a lot against the ball, we’re working at this.

“He’s still growing and developing.

“We like him a lot, it was not a gift that he was in the starting line-up.”

Chambers has made two appearances for Leeds so far this season, and it remains to be seen whether he will be included in the Whites’ matchday squad for their upcoming match on Tuesday.

Developing Off-the-Ball Abilities Key for Leeds United Prospect

Daniel Farke’s comments suggest that Sam Chambers, the promising Leeds United youngster, has the potential to make an impact at the senior level, but he needs to focus on improving his off-the-ball skills and fitness to cement his place in the team.

Farke’s decision to utilize Chambers as a winger in the FA Cup match against Millwall highlights the manager’s belief that the 17-year-old midfielder can thrive in a more advanced, wide role, at least in the early stages of his career. This approach allows Chambers to showcase his dynamism and intensity, which have already caught the eye of the Leeds boss.

However, Farke’s emphasis on Chambers needing to work on his fitness level and off-the-ball abilities underscores the importance of well-rounded development for young players aspiring to succeed at the highest level. Mastering the defensive and tactical aspects of the game, in addition to the attacking flair, will be crucial for Chambers to establish himself as a regular in the Leeds United first team.

As the Leeds United starlet continues to gain experience and exposure at the senior level, it will be interesting to see how he adapts and refines his game to meet the demands of the professional game. With the guidance and support of Daniel Farke and the Leeds coaching staff, Chambers has the opportunity to fulfill his potential and become a valuable asset for the club in the years to come.
