Prolific Striker Awarded Player of the Month After Scoring Spree

Leeds United‘s Transfer Window Dilemma: Seeking a Prolific Striker for Premier League Push

The fact that Leeds United failed to secure a new attacking talent during the January transfer window likely means that Daniel Farke’s Premier League-seeking side will make a significant push in the forward department in the upcoming summer window.

Leeds had a bid rejected for Southampton’s Cameron Archer, and Adam Armstrong ended up joining West Brom, while the high-profile signing of former Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath by Atlanta United in the MLS quickly dashed any hopes of him arriving at Elland Road.

If Latte Lath had moved in the summer rather than January, Leeds United may have had a better chance of securing his services, but that is all speculation, as the focus now turns to the 2025/26 campaign, where the club will hope to return to the Premier League.

As for Dor Turgeman, another talented forward linked with The Whites around the festive period, his best chance of staying on Leeds‘ radar is to ensure that his blistering form at the start of the new year continues throughout the remainder of the season.

After the reports emerged that Leeds United were tracking the £6 million-rated Israel international, Turgeman found himself in a dry spell, with the goals drying up in the build-up to Christmas.

However, Turgeman would soon quench his thirst with a flood of goals in early-2025, finishing January with five goals in five Israeli Premier League matches. This ensured that Maccabi Tel Aviv, a club previously coached by now-Ferencvaros boss Robbie Keane, went into February only two points adrift of Hapoel Be’er Sheva at the summit.

Turgeman’s reward for his impressive form was the club’s Player of the Month award for January, though he and Maccabi Tel Aviv have much bigger goals to achieve this season.

Turgeman Would Bring ‘Great Skill’, Speed, and Efficiency to Elland Road

While Daniel Farke may claim to be content with his current striking options, this could be a manager’s attempt to maintain harmony after an underwhelming January transfer window.

Farke has confirmed that Patrick Bamford is not ready to return from an injury that has kept him out since New Year’s Day, and while Leeds rejected a bid from Real Betis for Mateo Joseph, the young Spaniard’s poor showing in the FA Cup defeat to Millwall means he has only scored three goals in 32 games.

As a result, Joel Piroe is the only one of Leeds‘ current center-forwards who can be relied upon to start regularly and score frequently.

However, Dor Turgeman, described by Israeli publication Sport5 as ‘a tremendous goalscorer in his own right’, could be the solution. Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Zarko Lazetic highlights Turgeman’s fierce pressing from the front, describing him as a ‘beast’ of a center-forward, with a craftiness to complement his physical attributes.

Turgeman’s efficiency in front of goal is also impressive, with his first nine goals of the season coming from just 15 shots, and Sport5 adding that “when he does start, he is one of the best on the pitch.”

Should Turgeman follow in the footsteps of Manor Solomon and join Leeds, Dan James might soon find himself having to defend the title of the club’s fastest player, as Turgeman is described as a “fast and dangerous player” with “great skill”.

In conclusion, while Leeds United may have missed out on some of their January transfer targets, the potential acquisition of Dor Turgeman in the summer could provide the attacking firepower needed to secure a return to the Premier League. His skill, speed, and efficiency in front of goal could make him a valuable addition to Daniel Farke’s side.
