Premier League Predictions: Round 27 Breakdown

Here is the content rewritten in English:

I had a reasonable 6/10 performance in the Premier League Predictor for Round 26, but things could have been a lot better if Everton had held on to their 2-0 lead!

The other 3 picks I got wrong – the wins for West Ham, Wolves, and Crystal Palace – were selections I didn’t really consider, so I can live with those.

We’re now into a midweek round with plenty of exciting fixtures, so I’m going with a few risky picks. Here are my thoughts on each game in Round 27 – feel free to share your own predictions in the comments before laughing at me if I end up with very few points!

Brighton vs. Brentford
This is a difficult one to start with, and I’m risking a high-scoring draw. Brighton seem to have found some form at a good stage of the season, and I actually think they’re the favorites due to Illia Zabarnyi’s suspension for Bournemouth. However, the Cherries often find ways to get a result away from home, and I believe Andoni Iraola may manage to secure at least a point here as well. Prediction: Brighton 2-2 Bournemouth

Crystal Palace vs. Aston Villa
I’m a bit put off by Palace’s home form here, and Aston Villa are looking quite dangerous with their new signings. This could easily also be a draw, so I’m going with that even though it feels quite risky to pick too many draws in this round! Hopefully, at least one of this game or Brighton vs. Bournemouth finishes level… Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-1 Aston Villa

Wolves vs. Fulham
Wolves should have their tails up after that win at Bournemouth, and another victory here is possible, which would go a long way to keeping them in the top flight. However, I’m conscious that the win against the Cherries was against 10 men, and Fulham have been better away from home than they have at Craven Cottage of late. I’m going with a narrow away win. Prediction: Wolves 1-2 Fulham

Chelsea vs. Southampton
Surely Chelsea can beat Southampton at Stamford Bridge? There isn’t much going for the Blues at the moment, but anything other than 3 points here would be calamitous for Enzo Maresca. When you compare the quality of players like Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez to the Southampton squad, this really has to be a home win. Prediction: Chelsea 3-0 Southampton

Brentford vs. Everton
Another game that should be really close. Brentford have the better attacking quality, but I really like Everton’s defensive triangle of James Tarkwoski, Jarrad Branthwaite, and Jordan Pickford, who I think will keep the Toffees in this game. I’m going with another draw, but could easily be persuaded to back either team! Prediction: Brentford 1-1 Everton

Manchester United vs. Ipswich
This feels similar to the Chelsea vs. Southampton game in that Manchester United really ought to win against a newly promoted side, but United are a lot worse than Chelsea at the moment, and Ipswich are better than Southampton, so there’s much more room for an upset. I’m going with United, but a 1-2 away win really wouldn’t surprise me. Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Ipswich

Nottingham Forest vs. Arsenal
This feels like an opportunity for Nottingham Forest to me. The weekend will have been really tough to take for Arsenal, and with so many attackers missing, that could win this game for them. Perhaps Mikel Merino or someone like Declan Rice will step up, but Forest look set to be the more balanced, threatening side in my opinion, and I’m therefore siding with a home win. Prediction: Nottingham Forest 2-1 Arsenal

Tottenham vs. Manchester City
I’ll definitely be checking the lineups for this one to see who is playing center-back for Tottenham and whether or not Erling Haaland is fit for City. Spurs very often win this fixture anyway, and City are of course a lot more beatable than usual this season, but there’s a lot at stake for Pep Guardiola’s side in this match, and if Haaland is back, I think they might sneak it. Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Manchester City

Liverpool vs. Newcastle
The reality is Liverpool have been a level above everyone else pretty much from the off this season, and many of Newcastle’s recent performances fail to justify risking an upset pick in this game. I think the Reds will win comfortably. Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

West Ham vs. Leicester
Finally, we might just see West Ham put back-to-back league wins together for the first time this season here. It’s vital that the Hammers build on that result against Arsenal, and this is a perfect fixture in which to do that. Prediction: West Ham 2-0 Leicester
