Everton’s recent January transfer window signing, Argentine midfielder Carlos Alcaraz, has received a positive response from his new teammate, Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison. The 21-year-old Alcaraz joined the Toffees on Deadline Day, but the deal was initially in doubt as Everton had to request an extension from the Premier League to complete the transfer from Flamengo.
The acquisition of Alcaraz is an initial loan with a mandatory purchase option, and he was Everton’s sole January signing. The Toffees were also linked to a number of other players, including free agent Willian and Ernest Nuamah on loan from Lyon, but those deals did not come to fruition.
Everton Bolster Midfield with Alcaraz Signing to Aid Relegation Fight
Since David Moyes returned as Everton’s manager, the club has experienced a resurgence, winning three out of their last four Premier League matches. This has placed the Toffees nine points clear of the relegation zone, putting them in a better position to retain their top-flight status.
Alcaraz is a familiar face to English football fans, having spent two seasons with Southampton between 2022 and 2024. The Argentine’s versatility, being comfortable playing in various midfield positions and even out wide, is expected to be a valuable asset for Moyes as he aims to guide Everton to safety.
Jack Harrison Expresses Delight over Alcaraz’s Everton Move
Following his Deadline Day transfer, Alcaraz posted a message on his Instagram, expressing his happiness and excitement for this new challenge with Everton. His new teammate, Jack Harrison, was quick to show his support by liking the post, which read: “I’m very happy for this new challenge, a new chapter begins with Everton. LET’S GO! Thank you to my family and my team for always supporting me!”
Harrison, who is on loan from Leeds United, has been linked with a potential exit from Everton due to a poor run of form. However, the arrival of Alcaraz could provide a much-needed boost for Harrison as he looks to rediscover his form and cement his place in the Everton squad.
