Tyson Pedro Opens Up on Fenech Link After Jarvis Split

Jeff Fenech and Tyson Pedro: The Truth Behind Boxing’s Latest Partnership

A photograph showing former UFC fighter Tyson Pedro training with Hall-of-Fame boxer Jeff Fenech sparked significant interest in Australian boxing circles. The image, shared by Pedro’s father, quickly led to speculation about Fenech’s recent split with middleweight star Brock Jarvis.

While Jarvis prepares for his March 12 bout against Keith Thurman following his separation from Fenech, Pedro has been working with the boxing legend for his upcoming fight against undefeated Taimoor Khan (15-0, 13 KOs) on February 14, streaming live on Stan.

Pedro clarified the situation, revealing a longer-standing relationship with Fenech: “I’ve been speaking to Jeff for a long time. He was one of the people who lined up this WBC title fight for me before all this happened.”

Champion Mindset: Pedro’s Quest for Excellence

Pedro’s approach to training has always involved seeking out the best mentors in combat sports:

• Trained with UFC legend John Jones in New Mexico
• Worked alongside Alexander Volkonovski
• Spent time at City Kickboxing with Israel Adesanya
• Collaborated with former world champion Danny Green
• Trained under renowned boxing coach Fareed Samad in the US

“I’ve always put myself in a position to learn from the best in the world – champions,” Pedro explained. “There’s something about being a champion, and you want to see what juice they’ve got. Being with Jeff, I feel that as well. World champions have something different in them.”

Despite having a 5-0 amateur boxing record, Pedro faces a significant challenge in his professional debut against Khan. Rather than choosing an easier opponent, Pedro has opted for a high-risk, high-reward approach.

“I’m a sink or swim kind of guy – all in and all out. It would be disrespectful to boxing if I came in and fought low-level guys,” Pedro stated. “Not only that, I believe I can do it.”

This bold decision comes after his initial planned debut against Kris Terzievski fell through. Now, with Fenech in his corner and years of combat sports experience behind him, Pedro looks to make his mark in professional boxing.

Watch Tyson Pedro’s professional boxing debut live and ad-free on Stan Sport, February 26 from 7pm AEDT, with main event highlights also available on 9Go! from 9:30pm AEDT.
